Fancy Schmancy Pencil Holders

After I made a shelf/frame out of zebra-wood and walnut, I had a bunch of little off-cuts left over. Rather than let them go to waste, I laminated them together into the shape of a pencil holder and presented them to the mother of my nephew, a fourth-grade teacher here in Clarksville, Tennessee, this past Sunday, May 12th. Mothers’ Day, for those of you playing at home, but also the last day of Teacher Appreciation Week.

My wife, an office worker who also likes to have places to store her pens and pencils, was a little irate. “She’s not the mother of your children!”
